Wriggle Room
Willingdon Trees Community Centre x Towner Eastbourne

Autumn 2024 - Summer 2026

As the artist lead for the joyous programme Wriggle Room, an early years arts programme for under 5s and their care-givers, I'm excited to co-develop weekly term-time workshops with Willingdon Trees Community Centre and Towner's Learning team.

We will be offering arts activities inspired by the curiosity and open-ended exploration under-5s and to encourage interaction between the generations.

At the core of the workshops I will continue my practice of repurposing materials from my own studio and surplus from the gallery left from other artist facilitators workshops and exhibitions. We will be working with tactile and sensory materials with both individual and collective making through installations, and food-making and tasting.

UPDATE Summer 2025

A mesage of thanks for the wonderful past year of collaboration with the fabulous and invaluable Mollie Owls, Learning Curator at Towner Eastbourne, and the volunteers, staff and families at Willingdon Trees Community Centre and Towner Gallery. Plus incredible support from volunteers and staff at our off-site sessions, and the wider Towner gallery team.

We've painted multiverses, melted citrus ice-cakes, built dens in Friston Forest and created fairy portals. We've taken our Wrigglers to Berwick Church, Middle Farm, and to a local pond to float bark tree boats. We've helped water thirsty beds Rooted Community Food and I've even cooked a family lentil recipe and made mini pancakes in the community centre kitchen.

We will be running workshops again for the 2025 - 2026 academic year from September 2025.
