Series: I will wear the sun, pieces of us come apart
H90cm x W200cm
Tanvi Kant’s wall-based sculptures from the series We Will Wear the Sun are colourful assemblages of fabric off-cuts from the artist’s studio. Their abstract shapes are determined by the scraps available, linking together process, form, and structure. In this meditation on fragmentation, Kant pieces together similar colours, exploring the multi-hued spectrum that makes up white light. Delicate fabrics are strengthened by being stitched to other similarly fine materials, resulting in works that are simultaneously both weighty and fluid. The pieces are finished with intricate hand-stitching resembling cellular growth or topographical contouring, travelling effortlessly between scales of microcosm and macrocosm.
