I use reclaimed textiles to make jewellery, such as old saris belonging to my family, unwanted furnishing fabrics or my own clothes, which I combine with hand-formed pieces of porcelain. My choice of materials refers to recycling and sustainability but they also give reference to more personal and collective histories.

The fabrics are transformed, and in some pieces their original form is visible, allowing the wearer to feel and remember the origins of the work. The methods of wearing by draping, wrapping and knotting also refer to the origins of the fabrics, such as the sari and scarf. The nature of materials and techniques used results in spontaneity within my making process, which reflects drawing like qualities and diversity in colour, scale and texture. My work has evolved from diverse sources and influences: the physical structure of the pieces being influenced by the study of plant cell structures and ethnographic tools, together with the association of adornment with rituals.
